Bankside Systems, based in London and Gloucestershire, has successfully launched Intermodal Manager, a next-generation cloud-enabled terminal operating system (TOS). The first system implementation went live at Solent Stevedores’ London Gateway depot in October.
Solent Stevedores (SSL) initially contracted to use the Yard Management and Maintenance & Repair (M&R) modules of the system at London Gateway. Following a smooth and successful launch, a new contract has been signed to roll out the Yard Management functionality to SSL’s Southampton depot where it will be used to manage empty and loaded container storage activities.
At the company’s London Gateway depot, SSL will use the system to manage inbound and outbound container traffic, as well as the full M&R process from initial inspection through to job completion. Where appropriate, the system uses CEDEX coding of damage and repair, though this can be customised to meet specific customer requirements. Real-time reporting and monitoring bring significant benefits for business operation and management. The use of revolutionary Blazor technology enables system access by all devices, from phones and tablets to desktop PCs and Macs, using a common underlying system. Solent Stevedores are planning to expand their M&R service offerings to other depots, and this new software solution will help them to do so rapidly.
“We looked at a number of other terminal operating systems and none offered the ease of use and ability to customise that Bankside offered us. They were able to transfer the data from our old system into the new so that we were up and running with Intermodal Manager quickly and painlessly. They really understand the container services industry, and use the latest technology to build their system.” Jon Williams, Finance Director Solent Stevedores Ltd.
“We are delighted that our first implementation of Intermodal Manager has been such a success. Solent Stevedores have been a pleasure to work with. After many years’ experience in supporting container terminal software, we feel that the time is right for a next generation solution built to accommodate the rapidly changing needs of this sector. We look forward to announcing additional modules in the coming months.” Michael Weaver, MD of Bankside Systems Ltd.
